CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
Yoga Blend An eclectic blend of yoga traditions, using the breath and movement of Vinyasa, the alignment of Iyengar and the heat of Ashtanga. Classes are taught by teachers who have studied more than one yoga tradition. In this class, students will explore their strength and flexibility through a series of postures that incorporates twists, balancing, and some inversion. Through exploring the body's subtleties, you will build your endurance, deepen your stretches, and increase self-awareness. Explore the Asanas, Breathing Techniques or Pranayama, and Meditation.
Gentle FlowA gentle class the combines yoga postures, breathing, and meditation. This class is geared toward students who wish to move at a slower pace. Ideal for beginners, prenatal and seniors.
Hatha Blend A moderately paced class. An eclectic mix of several Hatha yoga styles that will appeal to all levels. Beginners will find easy to follow instructions and modifications. Advanced students will find fresh inspiration in their practice by experiencing postures and breath work in a new light.
Freestyle Vinyasa Flow A vigorous, creative, dynamic style that links breath and movement through heat building sequece of postures. This class is designed specifically for stamina & strength of alignment. In this class students will explore more advanced postures longer, and deepen their understanding of the asanas. THis class is meant to provide an opportunity for investigation, challenge, and surrender. For the physically active.
Core Strengthening Flow An invigorating, strength-based class which focuses on postures which build strength and endurance deep in the core of the body. Gain flexibility and improve your concentration, connecting to your center (core) through movement and breath. Practice at your own level of ability, fitness level and circumstance. All levels welcome- start where you are!
Dharma Yoga This is the beginning level of the Dharma Yoga series created by Sri Dharma Mittra. Students will practice DY Surya Namaskar and be introduced to DY Shiva Namaskar Vinyasa Level I to warm up the body, bring flexibility to all muscles and joints, and wake up the nervous system. A gentle yet powerful series of balancing, stretching, back bending, twisting and inverted postures will follow. This practice ends with deep relaxation, breathing, and meditation exercises to remove impurities and bring a sense of well-being to the body and radiant peace to the mind.
Therapeutic Yoga Gentle: A class designed to work slowly with a focus on breath and body awareness. Ideal if you have had recent surgery, chronic pain, or just need to work more slowly. Also terrific for our more "mature" students.
Restorative Yoga Relax and Renew Supported and stabilized by props, one experiences the yoga postures as profoundly relaxing and deeply rejuvenating, invoking a natural state of healing rest, renewal and equanimity. The body releases naturally by practicing supported and passive yoga postures. Deeply held tension and stress melts away. Restorative is appropriate for anyone, at any age or stage of life, or in any physical condition. Kids Yoga Fun and imaginative, the program is designed to help children build strength, flexibility, and concentration in a non-competitive environment. Classes emphasize correct breathing and relaxation techniques.
Mat Pilates Our one-hour Pilates mat classes will help you improve posture and develop core control, which is the ability to move effectively and efficiently by transmitting force from the body's center through the torso and limbs. Pilates evolved mat exercises corrdinates diaphragmatic breathing with properly sequenced co-contractions of the deep abdominal, pelvic floor and spinal musculature. The exercises emphasize precise alignment and efficient sequencing of movement.
LEVELS Basic classes provide a safe environment for new students to learn the basic yoga postures. The classes are joyful, safe and compassionate.
Open classes are open to beginner through advanced students and offer modifications and variations so that each student can enjoy practicing at their own pace.
Intermediate classes build heat and stamina with challenging and creative sequences. Previous yoga experience is encouraged..
